How it Began:

The NYR, aka NEW YORK REPORTER, was the very 1st comic created by Mister AnderSiN. Using just words and simple Photoshop tricks due to a lack of artistic talent, he told the story, as NEWSPAPER HEADLINES, from the city’s POV,  where his vigilantes would soon become the focal point for and hope for a beaten-down society where skyscrapers were homes to the ultra-rich.

1st released in 2011 as a handful of NEWSPAPER HEADLINES to show off the idea, as a pitch his idea and work to other creators and hopefully an aritst that Mister AnderSiN could meet at the Comic Book Schools: Creators Connection panel at NYCC, Mister AnderSiN would rework them from just headlines to Newspaper stories to world build the city his vigilantes were about to inherit.  For three years, he worked on it, proving his passion and dedication to Buddy Scalera, Victor Dandridge:  The Hardest Working Man in Comics & fellow creators, and began to make a name for himself.

Enter:  NYCC Special Edition & a 8-page challenge

After working on NYR, creating the city for DARK JUSTICE to inherit, and having just had major back surgery, Mister AnderSiN was challenged by Buddy Scalera & Victor Dandridge to make a comic for the NEXT NYCC in October while attending the NYCC Special Edition in April 2015.  While Mister AnderSiN was super excited to be recognized and challenged, having a top creator challenge him brought pressure and a desire to prove he had what it took to be counted among comic book creators; yet he failed to find an artist to work with for this challenge. The Idea of the panel and 8-page challenge was to connect with an artist at the Comic Book Schools: Creators Connection panel at NYCC Special Edition to create the 8 pages, a simple feat if you connect, but what do you do when you fail to connect?

For Mister AnderSiN this was a put-up of shut-up moment, having found an artist who was willing to work on what would one day become Barbara UNLEASHED, one of Mister AnderSiN’s top Series/Creations, he decided to work on two projects at once, which would work out well when the artist fell through on Barbara and gave birth to an 8-page answer to the chellenge. -See Gothic Blue on this site for more on that story.

Having no artistic talent and having just had back surgery, Mister AnderSiN set off to create a 4-page comic about DARK JUSTICE using 2 action figures. That’s right, he created a comic using action figures with so much care and passion. Remember, he just had major back surgery and was still healing, all while being a full-time stay-at-home Dad to his newborn son JAXX, who would become his inspiration for CatDad and all that comes from the TEAM CatDad franchise.

Mister AnderSiN would go on to write, letter, take over a 100 photos, set a figure on fire, (sorry an action figure was hurt making this comic), do all the photo editing on Photoshop and as you will see in the FREE download- as Mister AndersiN has never charged for this work and has no plans to in the future- the finshed work of a passionate creator who would soon know he would be a cripple for the rest of his life, and in a wheel chair would become a Comic book creator. This 8-page book would lead to many doors opening and not just because he was in a wheelchair, but because he showed grit and a true desire to create stories for readers to enjoy, this DARK JUSTICE BURNS & GOTHIC BLUE NYCC handout 2015

While working on DARK JUSTICE , it became clear Barbara would have to wait, though not for long, as she would be the 1st professional comic Mister AnderSiN would release in Feb 2017 on Kickstarter and successfully fund.

Having no artistic talent and having just had back surgery, being a full-time stay-at-home Dad to his newborn son JAXX, who would become his inspiration for CatDad and all that comes from the TEAM CatDad franchise, he felt defeated. But if a broken back wasn’t stopping him, why should a lack of an artist do that? Despite the broken back, Mister AnderSiN refused to give up and used some creative workarounds to be able to draw without being able to bend at all he would take over drawing duties and pivoted to a creation from his lil sister Shorty, who goes by Atru as a creator and became its artist. Using tracing skills he had and a lot of patience he would create a 4 pages story as the writer, artist, colorist, and letterer for his second art-centered comic book project. A feat he would never want to try to do again, but this kind of passion could not be denied and would lead him to make the connections that would help him break into Indie Comics.
